Well I thought the crazy weather was over, but then it warmed up so quickly and rained a ton! So Whatcom County flooded. Big time. In Ferndale, the river crested at 22.66 feet Thursday at about 8 pm, more than 3 1/2 feet above flood stage. Our road was closed for several days right at our driveway. Our house was safe but the water came a lot closer than I had expected it too. I know the extent of the flood can be devastating but I am still completely fascinated by the force of nature. I am hoping to post more pictures soon from around the county just to keep record of the Great Flood of '09. As fast as the flood comes, it's amazing how quickly it goes. By Saturday at noon, Slater Road was open and by the time Brett came home from work a little after 1 pm, the road was almost completely bare. I'm ready for sunshine!
