12 weeks!

Maelle is almost 12 weeks old! I am yet again blown away by how quickly time flies by. My baby will be 4 in April. And my BABY is almost 3 months old! Crazy.

At her two month check-up, she weighed 10 lbs 15 oz and was 22 1/4 in. She's a healthy, growing girl. She's a champion eater. She only nurses for 10-15 minutes at a time. I remember doing this 30-40 minute stretches with Jack, so I'm thankful Maelle's so efficient. Once we get her down at night (which sometimes is a challenge), she usually sleeps for 5 or 6 hours, wakes up and eats for 10 minutes, then goes back down for another 3-4 hours. I'm praying that this continues, but know all too well it could change at any point! She is probably the nosiest baby I've ever met. She grunts, groans, sighs, snorts. I listen to it all night long, but I think I've finally gotten used to it.

She's smiling, cooing and sometimes has little "conversations" with us. I love having her talk back to me. I feel like she is actually trying to tell me something. It's so sweet. I think I almost got her to laugh last night. She's a pretty happy baby, really only fussing when she's tired or hungry (or occasionally when her tummy hurts or she's recovering from her shots or if Big Brother scares her a little bit.) She's definitely a Mama's girl right now (not giving me too much alone time!) And she LOVES her big brother. Well, it's kind of a love/hate relationship. She loves him from afar, but is slightly fearful if he gets too close or too loud.

She's finally starting to like baths as long as they're nice and warm and not too long. And she loves her hands. So much, we can't really swaddle her anymore, because she struggles and grunts until they're free and in her mouth. She's able to get them to her mouth regularly now, and sometimes gags herself on them. She's a bit of a spitter-upper, so we are doing a lot of laundry in this house.

Maelle's also starting to love hanging out on the floor, stretching, kicking and looking at her "friends" hanging above her. I love her looks of concentration. She furrows her brow and really looks concerned.
It's been an adjustment having two kiddos. But, as Jack would say, "I never, ever want to send her back!" We love our little lady!
