Four Months Old

Jack is now four months old! I know I say this every milestone, but I can't believe it! My little boy is growing so fast! And he's learning, learning, learning! He's so good at grabbing onto things lately. He grabs onto my hair all the time! And he loves it when we get close to him so he can grab onto our faces. He still loves his bouncer, although he doesn't stay entertained in it quite as long as he used to. But, he's mastered grabbing both the monkey and the toucan that hang from it. Look how hard he concentrates! He also loves books. He has a new soft one that's easy for him to grab and chew on...
...but he also loves reading with Daddy or me or Grandma. He especially likes books with pictures or drawings of kids in them.
He also really likes music and being sung to. I've been trying to think of some new songs because I feel like I'm singing the same ones over and over. Or, I forget the words. (How does Old MacDonald go?)
Jack's been spending a lot of time at the pool this summer while I work. Most of the time Grandma (and sometimes Grandpa!) are there to hang out with him. They supervise from the deck with appetizers and a glass of wine. Jack still loves to be swaddled! Sometimes I feel like we'll be swaddling him until he's 18!
Last week, I mentioned how he was starting to talk (coo, really) to himself, especially when he was in the backseat of the car. He does it almost every time we're in the car now. It's so funny because he'll be talking, and then if we're stopped too long at a red light, it will turn into fussing, and then it will turn back into talking again once we start rolling again, all in one breath! He's also started doing it when he's falling asleep and waking up. Brett and I just love listening to him.
On a not so fun note, I think Jack's teething. Everything he grabs goes straight to his mouth, and he especially loves gnawing on our knuckles. We also have to make sure we have more than one outfit when we leave the house due to twice or more daily blowouts. He hasn't been overly fussy until last night when he screamed for an hour for Daddy while I was at a meeting and today when he screamed for my friend, Elizabeth, for an hour while I was working at the pool. We're wondering if separation anxiety is starting already too! Of course, I will keep you posted when that first tooth pops through, although I've heard it can take awhile!
Whether he's cranky or not, I cannot describe the amount of joy Jack brings to us. We cannot remember what we talked about before our beautiful son came into our lives! It just keeps getting better!
