Seattle

We love Seattle at Christmas Time. For the past several years, we've made it a tradition to go to the last Seahawks game before Christmas and stay overnight to spend time in the city. This year the game is on Christmas Eve, so we went to last Monday night's game instead. And we took Jack with us. Other than going to the Clink (fka Qwest Field), he's only been to Seattle once when he was a few months old, so this was basically his first time actually seeing the city. He has several Seattle books and recognizes the Space Needle (we've seen it from the freeway as we were driving through), so we thought he would really enjoy actually seeing all these things in person.

It took us over two and a half hours to get to Seattle with traffic. We thought we'd left town in time, but did not account for the extra traffic due to the game. So we ended up parking at our hotel and taking a taxi to the stadium. Jack thought riding in a taxi was pretty cool. We were lucky to only miss the first quarter.

It was a bit chilly, but we were all bundled up. Jack had lots of snacks and loved watching everything going on. As long as he kept his earmuffs on so the fireworks weren't quite so loud, he was happy!
We stopped for a late dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and then went back to our hotel...

...where Jack had to promptly try out the bed.

The next morning, we grabbed our Starbucks,
tried riding the Carousel (which he was NOT a fan of, just look at that concerned face!),
walked through Pike Place Market,
took our picture outside the first Starbucks,
rode the monorail,
to the Space Needle,
and rode to the top!
It's been so long such Brett and I had up to the top of the Space Needle (like 20 years!), it was exciting for us too! And we were lucky to get a beautiful day! We stopped and looked at the Gingerbread houses at the Sheraton before we headed out of town, but I was out of memory on my camera by that point. It wasn't until I got home and uploaded the pictures that I realized there was a smudge on the lens which explains the blur in most of the pics. We had so much fun! We're hoping to be able to keep this tradition for years to come!
